ABOUT

Crystal Ann Brown is an interdisciplinary artist currently working in Buckhannon, West Virginia. In 2012 she earned her MFA in sculpture and expanded practice from Ohio University School of Art.  Her work acknowledges and sometimes romanticizes the under appreciated aspects of mothering and everyday life through the use of textiles, sculpture, time-based media, social practice and drawing. Crystal is also the founder and director of The Howns Den: A Nomadic + Domestic Exhibition Space, that works to bring new ways of viewing contemporary art to her community. Brown currently teaches in the art department at West Virginia Wesleyan College and is the director of the Sleeth Gallery. When she is not teaching she is mothering her two young children, making art and sometimes running but always dreaming.
